A Study on Team Approach by Consultant for Recoverers and Social Workers - Focusing on Intervention for Alcoholics -

Abstract
Objective£ºCurrently, the service providers for alcoholics, in other words, the consultant for recoverers and the mental health professionals form a team and provide service. This study examines experience of the team, analyzes the meaning, provides the basic data for establishing a foundation helping the consultant for recoverers to settle in the mental health service system, and contributes to the development of community service for alcoholics.

Methods : The Focus Group Interview is conducted to analyze the meaning of team approach activities from the experience of consultant for recoverers and social workers. The recordings collected by the interview are the source material to be openly coded over and over again; the consensual qualitative research is selected to analyze the meaning.
Results : The introduction of consultant for recoverers to the case management service for alcoholics in local community lowers the resistance about the introduction of subject to the service, and promotes the communication with the local government. The consultant for recoverers are improved by the activities in local community, and maintains their activities in a strange field, provision of mental health service, by the support of co-workers. The social workers working with the consultant in the community mental health institution also have opportunity to strengthen their capability for addiction.
Conclusion : The establishment of organized system is necessary to introduce the consultant for recoverer to the mental health field in local community as a new human resource. Thus, the study suggests the succeeding studies on the effect of introduction of consultant for recoverer. Also, the institutional support is necessary at this point when the need of addiction case management service for local community is rising.
